Overview
Pathway Legal is working with an established law firm seeking to appoint an experienced General Litigation Solicitor to join its team in either Bangor or Newtownards.
This is a broad litigation opportunity and would suit a solicitor with solid experience across civil litigation and dispute resolution who is looking for a long-term role within a busy, well-established practice.
The firm is open-minded regarding the exact background of the successful candidate. Experience in family/matrimonial or criminal law would be an advantage, but is not essential. The priority is finding a capable litigator who can contribute to the wider practice and develop their role over time.
The position forms part of the firm’s wider planning for the future and offers genuine scope for an experienced solicitor looking for stability, responsibility and longer-term progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload of civil litigation matters from initial instruction through to resolution.
- Advising clients on contentious matters and providing clear, practical advice.
- Preparing correspondence, pleadings, applications and other relevant legal documentation.
- Conducting negotiations and working towards effective resolution of disputes where appropriate.
- Liaising with counsel, experts and other third parties.
- Representing clients and progressing matters through the court process as required.
- Managing client relationships and maintaining a high standard of client care.
- Contributing to the continued development of the firm’s litigation offering.
- Depending on experience, handling additional family/matrimonial or criminal matters.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Qualified Solicitor with experience in civil litigation.
- Strong case management skills with the ability to manage matters independently.
- Good knowledge of litigation procedure and court processes.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and client-facing skills.
- Practical and solutions-focused approach to resolving disputes.
- Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload effectively.
- Family/matrimonial and/or criminal law experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
