Overview

Pathway Legal is working with a highly regarded Belfast City Centre law firm seeking to appoint an experienced Matrimonial Solicitor to take a leading role within its Family Law practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor who is ready for the next stage of their career. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of and further develop the firm’s matrimonial offering, managing their own caseload while playing a key role in growing the department.

The firm is looking for someone who is confident working autonomously, commercially aware and keen to put their own stamp on the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of matrimonial and private family law matters from instruction through to conclusion.

• Advise on divorce, separation, matrimonial agreements, financial settlements and ancillary relief.

• Handle matters involving property, pensions, maintenance and other financial issues arising from relationship breakdown.

• Advise on private children matters where required.

• Provide clear, practical and sensitive advice to clients.

• Manage files independently and maintain excellent standards of client care.

• Take ownership of developing and growing the firm’s matrimonial practice.

• Build relationships with existing clients, professional contacts and referral sources.

• Play an active role in business development and the continued growth of the department.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Qualified Solicitor with ideally 3–4+ years’ PQE and strong matrimonial/family law experience.

• Strong technical knowledge of divorce, separation and matrimonial finance matters.

• Experience managing a caseload independently.

• Confident working autonomously and taking ownership of matters.

• Excellent communication, negotiation and client-care skills.

• Commercially minded with an interest in business development.

• Ambitious, proactive and keen to develop a practice and make the role their own.
