Solicitor / Associate – Major Injury & Casualty

Overview

Pathway Legal is working with a global legal business to recruit a Solicitor or Associate for its Major Injury & Casualty team in Belfast.

The role involves a varied caseload of litigated employers’ liability, public liability, casualty, disease and personal injury claims, including serious and complex injury matters.

Applications are welcomed from solicitors with 1–4+ years’ PQE in litigation. Newly qualified solicitors and trainee solicitors with relevant experience will also be considered, as will candidates from other litigation backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload from inception through to resolution.

• Investigate claims, gather evidence, interview witnesses and liaise with experts.

• Draft and review pleadings, witness statements and settlement agreements.

• Provide strategic advice to clients and represent their interests in court proceedings and settlement negotiations.

• Keep up to date with relevant legislation, case law and industry developments.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards.

Essential Skills

• Litigation experience, ideally within employers’ liability, public liability, casualty, disease or personal injury claims.

• A sound understanding of relevant law, civil procedure and litigation processes.

• The ability to manage a busy caseload with a level of supervision appropriate to experience.

• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

• A collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering a high standard of client service.

• Experience of high-value, serious injury, large loss or complex claims would be an advantage.
