Newly Qualified Solicitor – General Practice

Pathway Legal is delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm in County Down to recruit a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join its busy general practice team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an NQ Solicitor looking to gain broad, hands-on experience across a varied caseload within a supportive practice. The successful candidate will work across a range of general practice matters and will benefit from dedicated secretarial support, including assistance with dictation and administration.

The role would suit a newly qualified solicitor who enjoys variety, client contact and the opportunity to develop practical experience across several areas of law.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied general practice caseload with appropriate support and supervision.
• Assist with matters across areas such as conveyancing, litigation, family law, wills and probate and other general practice work.
• Meet with clients, take instructions and provide clear and practical legal advice.
• Draft correspondence, legal documentation and other relevant paperwork.
• Liaise with clients, other solicitors, counsel, courts and third parties as required.
• Manage files effectively and ensure matters progress in a timely manner.
• Attend court or other hearings where appropriate.
• Maintain a high standard of client care throughout each matter.
• Work closely with the wider legal and support team.
• Make effective use of the secretarial support available for dictation and general administrative assistance.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Newly Qualified Solicitor or due to qualify shortly in Northern Ireland.
• A genuine interest in developing experience within a general practice environment.
• Strong communication and client care skills.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• A practical and professional approach to client matters.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a supportive team.
• Previous experience within a general practice firm would be advantageous but is not essential.
