Overview
We are currently working with a well-established organisation seeking an Employment Law Solicitor to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a flexible opportunity, offering both full-time (35 hours, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm) and part-time hours consideration. The role offers a strong benefits package and the chance to work on a varied and interesting employment law caseload.
The successful candidate will handle both claimant and respondent Industrial Tribunal matters and provide advice across the full spectrum of employment law, both pre and post litigation.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of Industrial Tribunal files acting for both Claimant and Respondent clients
• Advise employers and employees on a wide range of employment law matters (pre and post litigation)
• Draft and advise on employment contracts, workplace policies, and staff handbooks
• Attend Final Hearings and Preliminary Hearings with Counsel
• Draft pleadings including Claim and Response Forms
• Prepare Schedules of Loss and Lists of Documents
• Draft interlocutory applications, notices, and replies
• Prepare legal opinions and prospect reports on insurance-related files
• Compile and prepare briefs to Counsel and full trial bundles
• Liaise with clients, Counsel, insurers/funders, and the Court via telephone and email
• Meet personal billing targets
• Maintain an organised and up-to-date inbox
• Support the wider team with ad hoc tasks as required by the Head of Department
Essential Skills and Experience
• Working knowledge of Employment Law
• Strong communication skills with a client-focused approach
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Experience drafting legal documents to a high standard
• Competent using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office
• Positive, proactive and ‘can-do’ attitude
• Excellent time management and reliability
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Strong ability to think on your feet and respond effectively under pressure
